As we all attempt to find our feet amid global chaos, film distributors are having to work especially hard to keep things ticking over until that blessed day when we emerge blinking into the sun and dive straight back through the doors of our nearest cinema.
In efforts to keep cinema alive and our spirits up, the good folks at Curzon have just announced a new programme of live Q&As with a whole host of talented filmmakers, which you can join in with from the comfort of your bed/sofa/bunker.

Starting this Friday with the launch of Nora Fingscheidt’s System Crasher, the series will see films available to stream on the Curzon Home Cinema platform, followed by a live Q&A with the director in the evening. To add to the sense of community, Curzon are encouraging viewers to tune in together at 6.45pm GMT before the Q&A starts at 9pm.
There’s an impressive roster of films and talent headed our way, with Joanna Hogg (The Souvenir), Whit Stillman (Love & Friendship), Andrew Haigh (45 Years), Céline Sciamma (Portrait of a Lady on Fire), Mark Jenkin (Bait), Mia Hansen-Løve (Things to Come) and Ruben Östlund (Force Majeure) all confirmed, and more names to come.
Although the precariousness of our present situation can’t be underestimated, spending time immersed in these singular works – and then getting to discuss them with their creators – definitely helps offset the sting a little.
