The Free Fire star is teaming up with the British writer/director for a futuristic sci-fi thriller.

Ben Wheatley has collaborated with his regular writing partner (and wife) Amy Jump again for an intriguing-sounding sci-fi thriller called Freakshift.

Although very little is known about the project as of yet, the story is said to concern a group of outsider cops who are tasked with hunting and dispatching underground monsters.

Alicia Vikander is in for the lead role, and it’s now confirmed that Armie Hammer will play her love interest, making this the second time that the pair have been cast alongside each other following Guy Ritchie’s 2015 spy flick The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

In our recent interview with the British writer/director, Wheatley revealed that comic book artist Mick McMahon has been drawing storyboards for the film. Wheatley himself has set up a Twitter page which has been teasing McMahon’s early concept sketches for the past few weeks.

Freakshift sees Hammer continue his recent thread of conceptual action films. He’s just wrapped filming on the upcoming American/Australian thriller Hotel Mumbai, with Dev Patel and Jason Isaacs. Right now he can be seen in Wheatley’s Free Fire, which you can read more about in our latest print issue.
