It is hap­pen­ing again.

Four words. That’s all it takes to com­plete­ly shat­ter our expec­ta­tion lev­els (in the best pos­si­ble way) for the upcom­ing third sea­son of Twin Peaks. That, and the sight of Kyle MacLach­lan smash­ing his face into a mirror…

Heck, just a clip of David Lynch eat­ing a dough­nut to Ange­lo Badalamenti’s icon­ic score was enough to make us gid­dy with excite­ment, but now we’ve final­ly been treat­ed to a prop­er glimpse of Agent Dale Cooper’s long-await­ed return – and it’s even more bril­liant­ly bonkers than we’d hoped.

Lynch and Mark Frost, the show’s cre­ators, have been keep­ing every­thing about Sea­son 3 tight­ly under wraps ahead of the sea­son pre­mière on 21 May. With just a few ago­nis­ing months left to wait, US net­work Show­time have appar­ent­ly decid­ed it’s time for the hint-drop­ping to stop and the fun to start. The mes­sage is clear enough: it is hap­pen­ing again.
