Glory be, have you ever seen so much top-tier star wattage gathered for a single picture? George, Scarlett, Tilda, Channing, Ralph, Josh, Jonah and Dolph? It’s like one of those old War Bond collecting portmanteau efforts where the great and good of Tinseltown USA would come on for their one skit in aid of Uncle Sam.
Following the angular existential musical comedy that was Inside Llewyn Davis – a film that some consider the directors’ greatest work – the Coen brothers return with a high-gloss satire of Golden Age Hollywood which, on the evidence of this whiz-bang first trailer, comes across like a screwball version of Billy Wilder’s Sunset Blvd.

Within the Coens’ own canon, this looks more like they’re harking back to films like The Big Lebowski and The Hudsucker Proxy, but with the flip ironic tone of Burn After Reading or The Ladykillers. But enough with our gabbing, sit back and enjoy…
