Watch the fishy first trailer for Finding Dory

10 Nov 2015

Words by Adam Woodward

Twelve years on from Finding Nemo, Disney-Pixar have a new tale of oceanic self-discovery.

Is there a market for Finding Dory? A dozen years is a long time to wait for an animated movie sequel. The kids that fell in love with Finding Nemo are all grown up. However, there’s always new kids and always nostalgic adults.

Finding Dory focuses on amnesiac blue tang, Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), attempting to find her lost family, backed up by a stellar voice cast, from the old school (Albert Brooks, Alexander Gould) plus new hooks (Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy and The Wire alumnus, Dominic West and Idris Elba). Andrew Stanton is directing, as he did first time round, and the UK release date is slated for 29 July 2016.

Anyone finding it a little hard to drum up enthusiasm for such a delayed production, might want to reference this enthusiastic comment by DeGeneres via the Hollywood Reporter:

I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time. I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating Toy Story 16. But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is – it’s got a lot more Dory.”
