Watch the brutal new trailer for The Revenant

Plots details and bear savagings abound in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s revenge saga.

The first trailer for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s forthcoming The Revenant gave us a wee taster of the texture and style of the film – looking like Werner Herzog’s Aguirre, the Wrath of God but with some top-end SFX work.

In this second dose before its early 2016 cinema release (15 January to be exact), we get a bit more idea of the plot, with growling Tom Hardy leaving growling Leonardo DiCaprio for dead, and the latter vowing any-cost blood revenge on the former. Cue running battles, treacherous raft rides, consuming of wild animals and, of course, riding a horse off a cliff.

The Revenant opens in cinemas 15 January 2016.
