It’s the film that can do no wrong. It has left preview audiences swooning hard in its glorious wake. Todd Haynes’ Carol is achieving that rare feat of achieving a wide critical accord. Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara make for the ideal screen pairing. We don’t want to jinx it, but it looks from every conceivable angle that this movie is bulletproof, and when it’s released into cinemas at the end of November, we’d be willing to put hard cash on the fact that status will remain.
