Following the Oscar-winning success of Get Out, Jordan Peele is back with another nerve-shredding American horror story. Set in and around the San Fransisco Bay Area, Us is part home invasion chiller, part doppelgänger mystery – with a clear nod to one of the old masters of the genre.
To celebrate the film’s theatrical release, we sat down with the writer/director to talk about reinterpreting two classic Alfred Hitchcock films with a black cast, the first time he remembers being scared in the cinema as a kid, and his formative VHS obsessions.
