Cars, guns, tarot cards, neon-soaked skin and a pulsing synth soundtrack: it’s fair to say that Nicolas Winding Refn’s latest project is very much within his wheelhouse.
The Danish writer/director’s follow-up to 2016’s The Neon Demon is a 10-part Amazon series exploring the criminal underbelly of Los Angeles via its characters’ existential journeys. Essentially it’s about a group of killers navigating the City of Angels, and it sounds right up our street.

Created by Refn and Ed Brubaker, the show stars William Baldwin, Celestino Cornielle, Nell Tiger Free, John Hawkes, Miles Teller and Jena Malone. Judging by this early glimpse, which isn’t so much a trailer as a rapid-fire montage of intoxicating images, Too Old To Die Young will be one of the must-see television events of 2019.
