Let the Right One In director Tomas Alfredson resurfaces with an icy crime thriller.

Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson, who previously brought us Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and the stunning vampire flick Let the Right One In, is having another run at the horror genre with his latest feature (not to be mistaken with the jolly Christmas film from 1982).

Adapted from Norwegian crime writer Jo Nesbø’s bestselling 2007 novel of the same name, The Snowman is Alfredon’s first directorial outing in six years.

The story centres around detective Harry Hole (Michael Fassbender), who believes a dormant serial killer has reared their head following a woman’s disappearance. Aided by rookie Katrine Bratt (Rebecca Ferguson), the pair must piece together cold cases from the past if they ever want this grisly nightmare to end.

With a top cast that also includes Val Kilmer, Chloë Sevigny, Toby Jones, Charlotte Gainsbourg and JK Simmons, this psychological crime drama looks certain to send a shiver down your spine. This first trailer has already given us a sudden fear of snowballs…

The Snowman is released on 13 October, 2017 in the UK and 20 October, 2017 in the US.
