Oh yes: Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg have another film on the way, and it looks very good indeed. Following their recent disaster movie Deepwater Horizon, about the BP oil spill, the pair’s next collaboration is a dramatisation of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing which left three people dead and hundreds more injured.
Judging by this first official trailer, Patriots Day looks to be another rousing celebration of the impervious everyday virtues that define America. But there’s also enough here to suggest that WahlPerg are going for something more restrained, more tender and even more human with their latest spin on a recent true story. It’s packed with acting heavyweights too – John Goodman, Kevin Bacon, Michelle Monaghan and JK Simmons all co-star.
