It seems as though Damien Chazelle isn’t done with musicals just yet. After the massive success of La La Land, it’s been announced that the 32-year-old director is attached to yet another intriguing new project, a contemporary musical TV drama intriguingly titled The Eddy.
While La La Land was an ode to dreamy, candy-coloured Los Angeles, The Eddy is to be set in modern-day Paris and tell the story of a club, its owner, its house band and “the volatile city that surrounds them”.

Jack Thorne, who recently penned the ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ stage play alongside JK Rowling, is lined up to write the show, with Grammy-winning songwriter Glen Ballard and Six Feet Under director Alan Poul attached as executive producers.
Chazelle, who first gained traction writing and directing Whiplash in 2014, became the youngest Best Director Oscar winner for La La Land last February, and is set to start work on The Eddy after his upcoming Neil Armstrong biopic has finished shooting.
Universal’s First Man stars La La Land leading man Ryan Gosling, and is set to be released in 2018.
