The first season of Stranger Things was Netflix’s third most-watched original show ever, so it’s fair to say we’re not the only ones who’ve been eagerly anticipating the show’s return.
During last night’s Super Bowl we finally got a first proper glimpse of Stranger Things 2 via a killer 30-second teaser that starts out as a spoof ad for Eggo before descending into nightmarish images and familiar nostalgic nods (look out for the super cute Ghostbusters cosplay) – and the intriguing tagline ‘The world is turning … Upside down’.
There’s no sign of Goonies star Sean Astin just yet, but it looks and sounds as if Eleven is back with the rest of the original cast. The trailer ends on a dramatic note with an apocalyptic-looking scene that’s lifted straight out of War of the Worlds, and a simple, tantalising release date: Halloween.
