Mamoru Oshii’s classic anime is being re-released in the UK early next year.

Following the successful re-release of cult ’80s anime Akira in the UK, Manga Entertainment will be bringing another classic animation back to the big screen in the form of Mamoru Oshii’s 1995 Ghost in the Shell. The film will be showing for one night only at 80 cinemas across the UK on 25 January, 2017.

Returning 21 years after its initial UK release, the Japanese sci-fi animation tells the story of a cyborg policewoman and her partner as they try to stop a powerful and mysterious hacker. Heralded as one of the best anime films of all time, this is a rare opportunity to catch it in its full glory – and before next year’s anxiously-anticipated live action remake.
