Julian Barratt and Simon Farnaby reveal their comedy heroes

Words by Adam Woodward

The writer-stars of Mindhorn interview each other about their comic influences.

Julian Barratt and Simon Farnaby are the winning writing and acting duo behind the sensationally funny new comedy, Mindhorn. They’ve contributed to some of the finest British comedies of the last two decades – from The Mighty Boosh to Nathan Barley and Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace – and this latest effort is right up there with the very best of them.

To celebrate the release of Mindhorn in UK cinemas, we sat down with Barratt and Farnaby for a brief chat – but rather than simply throw questions at them in the standard junket set-up, we got them to interview each other about their comedy heroes.

The results are not only very funny but also revealing and surprising, as the pair discuss a wide range of influences from Monty Python to Woody Allen.

Mindhorn is released 5 May.
