To celebrate the release of The Shape of Water, we enter the fantastical world of the inimitable Mexican maestro.

Guillermo del Toro has been bewitching film audiences for over 20 years, crafting immaculate, immersive adult fantasies like CronosHellboyPan’s Labyrinth and Crimson Peak.

Now the Mexican maestro is back with a new film, The Shape of Water, and to celebrate its US release we’ve commissioned video essayist Luís Azevedo (aka Beyond the Frame) to cast his discerning eye over the director’s back catalogue.

In ‘How Objects Tell The Story’, Azevedo explores the various ways in which everyday items and miraculous contraptions become important narrative devices in del Toro’s films. Give the video a watch, let us know your thoughts @LWLies, and stay tuned for more in 2018.
