Sweet but never saccharine, Greta Gerwig’s Little Women is a coming-of-age story told with infectious enthusiasm and palpable attention to detail.
This comes as no surprise, given Gerwig’s love for Louisa May Alcott’s seminal American novel, and in combining her enthusiasm for the source material with a stellar cast including Saoirse Ronan, Florence Pugh and Timothee Chalamet, she has created that rarest of literary adaptations: something that is faithful to its origins while also feeling fresh and bold.
