The first official trailer for Wilson is working up the anticipation for the film’s release next March rather nicely. Perhaps the most exciting and intriguing thing about this adaptation of David Clowes’ acclaimed satirical graphic novel it that director Craig Johnson has cast Woody Harrelson in the title role, with Laura Dern co-starring as Wilson’s estranged wife.
This early first look offers a tantalising glimpse of Harrelson as the neurotic, uncouth protagonist, as he attempts to connect with his teenage daughter for the first time. From the get-go, Harrelson turns the air blue, whether bothering kids on the bus or provoking a business man on the train, he manages to hilariously draw attention to the mundane futility of other people’s lives.

Harrelson is set to play another cranky middle-aged man in The Edge of Seventeen, but there’s something especially promising about the prospect of him inhabiting such a character for a lead role. It’s not just exciting new for Woody Harrelson fans, either. From the looks of this uproarious trailer, Wilson has all the right ingredients to kickstart a new trend for alternative graphic novel adaptations.
