It looks as though we’re getting a second Alien movie this year…

At least, that’s the vibe we’re getting from the skin-crawling new Life trailer.

So far the trailers for Life, the upcoming sci-fi thriller from Daniel Child 44” Espinosa, have been unforthcoming as far as plot details are concerned. We know that a crew aboard a space station discover something dangerous, and struggle to contain the crisis and thus survive the ordeal. So far, it’s all looking rather familiar.

This new red band trailer continues to ramp up the mystery while providing some clarity along the way. According to the official synopsis, A team of scientists aboard the International Space Station discovers a rapidly evolving life form that caused extinction on Mars, and now threatens the crew and all life on Earth”.

So yeah, it looks like we’ll be getting another Alien movie this year to go along with Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant.

This Jake Gyllenhaal / Ryan Reynolds vehicle definitely appears to have modelled its trailers on the quick-cut style of the nerve-wracking teasers for Prometheus and its sequel. This only invites further comparison between Life and Alien: Covenant, as both films deal with the outbreak of contagious diseases and hostile alien lifeforms on an unsuspecting crew.

Hopefully, Life will find a way to stand out from the sci-fi crowd. We’ll find out for sure when the film hits cinemas on 24 March.
