Is this the next Stranger Things?

02 Mar 2017

Netflix Original show Dark looks set to be another addictive mystery drama.

Hold on to your hats, as 2017 is officially going to be the year where you read the line, Is this the next Stranger Things?’ over and over and over again. And so, let’s get the ball rolling by asking whether the forthcoming Netflix serial, Dark, might just be the next… well, you know the rest.

The series marks the first Netflix Original show to come out of Germany, and this early teaser has slipped out a fair stretch ahead of its official winter drop date. The story, from director Baran bo Odar and writer Jantje Friese, is set in 1986 and concerns the disappearance of two young children in a rural German town.

The ensuing investigation obviously ends up planting a mirror in front of the dismayed and hypocritical locals and, per this short snippet, causes all the livestock to keel over and die. We’re very intrigued by that premise, and if this early teaser is anything to go by, it looks as though this could be another big binge-watch hit.
