Watch the new trail­er for Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver

Beat-matched get­away antics are the sub­ject of the director’s lat­est, which receives a toe-tap­pin’ first trailer.

Kids… don’t dri­ve with your head­phones on. What Edgar Wright has done with Baby Dri­ver is make a fan­ta­sy fic­tion film about a cool guy who har­bours the uncan­ny abil­i­ty to dri­ve like a demon when he’s got both buds in and the vol­ume turned to max.

Plus, he’s a get­away dri­ver, so what he’s doing is ille­gal any­way, so in a sense it’s fair game. But seri­ous­ly it’s good to have Wright back in the direc­to­r­i­al fold after the four-year hia­tus between this and his pre­vi­ous lark, the elbow-fight­ing lagerged­don of The World’s End. And this new one looks pret­ty rad.

Ansel Elgo­rt plays the epony­mous baby, a get­away dri­ver extra­or­di­naire whose preter­nat­ur­al skills behind the wheel make him first choice among sea­soned crims (Jamie Foxx, John Hamm). The film received its world pre­mière at the 2017 South By South­west Film Fes­ti­val to pos­i­tive crit­i­cal notices, and has been described as film that’s pow­ered by music in the same way that a car is pow­ered by petrol.
