Hot on the heels of Netflix’s controversial new docu-series Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, we’re now getting a second glimpse into the life and crimes of the notorious US serial killer – 30 years after his execution.

Sky Cinema today unveiled the first look trailer for the punchily-titled Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, which see Zac Efron play against-type as Bundy himself with Lily Collins as his sometime girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer. Theirs is a picture of domestic bliss, until Ted is arrested and charged with a string of grisly murders.

It’s been a big week for Efron, with a promo for Harmony Korine’s upcoming The Beach Bum further hinting at a fascinating career-shift for the High School Musical alumni and The Greatest Showman star.

Kaya Scodelario, John Malkovich and Haley Joel Osment also feature in this true crime thriller from director Joe Berlinger and screenwriter Michael Werwie. Berlinger is no stranger to this genre, having previously helmed the Oscar-nominated Paradise Lost, and he knows the Bundy story better than most – the aforementioned Conversations with a Killer is also his handiwork.

The film is set to receive its world première at the Sundance Film Festival this month, before arriving in the UK in cinemas and on Sky Cinema. Check out the trailer below.
