The second season of Netflix’s hit show returns this coming Halloween.

Having already treated us to a tantalising teaser earlier this month, Netflix have now released a batch of first-look images from Stranger Things 2 ahead of the show’s return on Halloween.

Without giving anything away, these stills suggest that the Duffers brothers have ensured that the tone of this sequel-of-sorts matches the original. The mood here is suitably dark with an overriding sense of apprehension, while the kids look absolutely adorable in their homemade Ghostbusters Halloween costumes. Perhaps tellingly, there’s no sign of Eleven here, with the focus instead on Will, Mike and co, who appear to be finding it tough getting back to normality after the events of the first season.

Stranger Things 2’s official log line reads: A year after Will’s return, everything seems back to normal… but a darkness lurks just beneath the surface, threatening all of Hawkins.
