Almost two years since Sully hit screens, Clint Eastwood is back in the director’s chair with another tale of American heroism. The 15:17 to Paris is an account of the 2015 Thalys Train attack, in which three Americans foiled a terrorist plot whilst enjoying a sightseeing holiday in Europe.
Following on from casting A‑listers Bradley Cooper and Tom Hanks in his last two films, Eastwood has gone for an entirely different approach this time. The men responsible for stopping the attack (Spencer Stone, Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos) all play themselves, as the film tells the story not only of the event which changed their lives, but of their friendship through childhood to adulthood. Also starring are Jenna Fischer and Judy Greer, and Eastwood’s teamed up again with cinematographer Tom Stern, who’s worked on 13 of his previous films.
