It feels like forever since we were last treated to a film from claymation whizz’s Aardman. Thankfully, the Bristol-based studio are returning to the filmmaking fold with Early Man, a caveman comedy starring the vocal talents of Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston and now Maisie Williams, who confirmed the news via her Twitter page.
Very excited to be a part of @earlymanmovie along with Eddie Redmayne and, of course, the hugely talented Nick Park pic.twitter.com/jmgN53ra6V — Maisie Williams (@Maisie_Williams) January 17, 2017
Even more excitingly, it’s being directed by Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park, whose last feature film was 2005’s The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Set in prehistoric times, Early Man follows the adventures of a plucky caveman (Redmayne) who must unite his tribe in order to defeat a powerful enemy. Williams will play Goona, a feisty rebel who befriends our hero.
Although the film isn’t due out until 2018, Aardman announced that production was underway care of a typically charming piece of promo (see below) featuring two of the film’s stars.
