She’s producing and starring in the biographical romance Seducing Ingrid Bergman.

A three-time Academy Award-winning actor, Ingrid Bergman’s film credits include the iconic Casablanca, Gaslight, and Notorious. Jessica Chastain is set to pay homage to the late Hollywood icon by starring in Seducing Ingrid Bergman, a film about her romance with Robert Capa.

With a script written by Arash Amel, the film is based on the 2012 novel by Chris Greenhalgh and tells the story of the torrid romance between the Swedish actress and the celebrated war photographer. Their relationship began in Paris immediately following World War Two, moving to Hollywood at the time of the McCarthy witch hunts.

Yash Raj Films chief executive officer Uday Chopra has hailed Chastain the “perfect actress” to bring Bergman back to life on screen. “Jessica is no stranger to portraying strong, intelligent women and this role deserves an actress of her immeasurable talent,” he said. “We also feel that she will bring a unique perspective as a producer.”

Chastain is a member of the 2017 Cannes Film Festival jury, has earned Academy Award nominations for Zero Dark Thirty and The Help, and is next due to appear on our screens as an Olympic hopeful skier in Aaron Sorkin’s Molly’s Game.

We’re certainly rooting for Chastain to do justice to one of cinema’s most beloved screen presences in this ambitious sounding project. Share your thoughts with us @LWLies
