It’s the film that can do no wrong. It has left pre­view audi­ences swoon­ing hard in its glo­ri­ous wake. Todd Haynes’ Car­ol is achiev­ing that rare feat of achiev­ing a wide crit­i­cal accord. Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara make for the ide­al screen pair­ing. We don’t want to jinx it, but it looks from every con­ceiv­able angle that this movie is bul­let­proof, and when it’s released into cin­e­mas at the end of Novem­ber, we’d be will­ing to put hard cash on the fact that sta­tus will remain.
