Watch the colourful new trailer for Disney’s Zootropolis

For all those who love sloth-based humour, your feature-animated lottery win has finally come in. Disney veteran, Byron Howard, last seen creating some of the most detailed animated hair in the history of the medium in 2010’s Tangled, teams up with Simpsons staffer Rich Moore to tell this tale of a world populated by cute animals.

This trailer – which is more of a single scene preview than a traditional jumble of “moments” – imagines a normal human situation where two police officers attempt to get details of the number plate of a supposed felon, and then replace the humans with animals. Simples.

Vocal talent is supplied here by Ginnifer Goodwin as a rabbit and Jason Bateman as a fox (kudos to whoever made that casting choice), with another Simpsons alumni in form of Raymond S Persi taking on the role of Flash the sloth. You get a decent idea of what this thing is going to be, and now we can hope that the remainder of the picture gives us this, and something more as well.

Zootropolis opens in the UK on 25 March.
