Given the frankly absurd state of current western politics, it’s perhaps unsurprising that one of the world’s premier satirists is turning back the clock for his latest directorial effort. As the title suggests, The Death of Stalin is a pitch-black farce centred around the eponymous Soviet dictator’s final days – and the chaotic power struggle that subsequently ensued.
The creator of Veep and The Thick of It has enlisted a stellar cast of British and American actors, including Steve Buscemi, Jason Isaacs, Michael Palin, Paul Whitehouse, Jeffrey Tambor, Andrea Riseborough, Rupert Friend, Paddy Considine and Richard Brake.
