Arriving hot on the stilettoed heels of its Palme d’Or nomination, the first proper glimpse at Nicolas Winding Refn’s tenth feature has arrived. It sees the Drive and Only God Forgives director fix his crosshairs on the modelling industry, as we follow a teenager named Jesse (Elle Fanning) who relocates to Los Angeles in search of fame and fortune.
The director/star pairing of Refn and Fanning is certainly an attractive one, and even more intriguing is the fact The Neon Demon boasts a predominantly female cast and was co-written by two unknown screenwriters in Mary Laws and Polly Stenham. From the looks of things there’s going to be plenty to dissect after this one. Also, see if you can spot Keanu Reeves in this hyper-stylised and hypnotic first teaser.
The Neon Demon hits cinemas summer 2016.
