Watch a striking clip from Pedro Almodóvar’s Julieta

It’s always a time for celebration when Pedro Almodóvar rolls through town with a new movie. His new one, Julieta, was revealed to the world at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, and when LWLies saw it there, we duly swooned in melancholic delight.

The film, about a woman thinking back to her formative years in an attempt to work out why she was abandoned by her daughter, stands as one of the director’s most mature, thoughtful and romantic works. Even so, he hasn’t severed all ties with the clique of female revolving players he has amassed over the years, and this exclusive clip introduces one of his most iconic collaborators: Rossy De Palma.

Julieta opens in the UK on 26 August.
