Paul Thomas Anderson has directed a new Radiohead video

Continuing his fruitful collaboration with Radiohead, director Paul Thomas Anderson has made a video for a live version of ‘The Numbers’ from the band’s most recent album ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’. Opting for an even more stripped-back approach than the short for ‘Daydreaming’ he shot earlier this year, this has an unshowy, let-the-music-do-the-talking kind of vibe to it. Which is not to say it doesn’t pack a punch.

Reduced to just Thom Yorke, Johnny Greenwood and a CR78 synthesizer, the video was filmed in a park in California, and while the song is not exactly sunny in mood, the idyllic setting feels particularly apt. PTA is currently in pre-production on his next feature, an as-yet untitled described as a drama in the fashion world of London in the 1950s, which will see him reunite with Daniel Day-Lewis.
